Today was my first day as an instructional computer specialist. And no, you’re not the only one if you do not know what an instructional computer specialist does. I didn’t know either. And after today, I now know.
I basically manage the computer lab at one of the local elementary schools. A lot of technical stuff needs to be done with me in order for me to get more situated with my role and job, but it didn’t happen. No email. No computer account. So I just sat in the lab until classes came in to use the computers. I assisted, but the teachers are more hands-on with the students.
I assist and watch. I think as the year progresses, I’m expected to be more hands-on with what the lab should be as a learning tool. But that’s a long way down the road, and I have no idea what the students will need.
And I was late too. That sucked. None of my pants fit me well enough with a shirt tucked in. GRRR.
