Very cool concert. I’ve attempted to buy tickets to some of their San Francisco shows, but they were all sold out. I was really surprised when we walked into a near empty Sac State ballroom. Maybe the crowd would grow larger by the time the concert started. It did, but capacity crowd it was not.
Man, there were too many high school kids. K-Fan and I felt so old with all of these kids that probably got to the concert by a ride from their parents. This one kid kept stepping on my foot until the last time he did it, he looked at me, I glared at him and he stopped jumping up and down.
The opening act was supposed to be Ariel Pink, but a sign at the ballroom entrance indicated that the band cancelled and instead we were subjected to Didley Squat. I won’t mention anything else about them, except that they’re weren’t funny.
Of Montreal finally came out and they played a really long set. They came out wearing some weird clothing. Funny thing. Toward the end, the guitarist said that the band was looking for some cool dorm party to go to after. K-Fan and I looked at each other and laughed. They had no idea that most of the people in the crowd couldn’t drive let alone drink. Well, that second part doesn’t stop many people.
Driving back to Davis there was the beginning formation of fog. Very surreal stuff. Like driving on a dreamy cloud. K-Fan, these pics are blurry. GRRR.
