Favorite Shows: The IT Crowd + Flight Of The Conchords

Flight Of The Conchords

I just finished the last episode of season one of HBO’s Flight Of The Conchords. I’m a little disappointed with the last two episodes. They didn’t have the same flavor as the earlier episodes. The DVD comes out soon, so look out for that.

The IT Crowd

The IT Crowd is already 1/3 the way throught its second series. Brits use series instead of season. The first episode was hilarious. Watch “A Work Outing” when you get a chance.

Atlanta Braves Come Back To Beat Philadelphia Phillies

Great picture of the Atlanta Braves celebrating its miraculous come-from-behind victory over the Philadelphia Phillies 9-8 on September 5th. Down 2-8 in the eighth inning, the Braves crawled back, eventually winning with a three run, bases clearing Matt Diaz double off of Brett Myers.

Cool articles:

1, Excerpt from ESPN’s Jayson Stark:

Our favorite quote of the week comes from always-entertaining Cubs closer Ryan Dempster. After he loaded the bases and walked in a run before saving a huge game against the Brewers last week, he was asked what was going through his head after he filled up those bases. His answer ranks in our all-time top five of closer-wackiness quips. “I was thinking, ‘I need to pump my bicycle tires up,'” Dempster deadpanned. “They were getting a little flat.”

This reminds me the scene from Bull Durham where a mound visit almost has nothing to do with the game. It’s meant to relax the pitcher with anything that would get his mind of the situation.

2. Kansas City Royal OF Joey Gathright on New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain:

“I’d like to go the rest of my career without facing that guy again,” outfielder Joey Gathright said. “You sit in. You try to cheat. It still gets in on you.”

3. Mosquito bite on manager Ned Yost costs Milwalkee Brewers big time.

“I had a mosquito bite in a certain spot and I was itching it, and Nick thought I was putting the steal on,” Brewers manager Ned Yost said, referring to third-base coach Nick Leyva.

Only in baseball…
