There has been much speculation about who was going to play the young James T. Kirk in J.J. Abram’s new Star Trek film. Matt Damon would have been cool. After Heroes‘s Zachary Quinto was cast as Spock, it was only a matter of time before a new Kirk would be announced. And now you have it. Chris Pine will play the legendary captain. Looking at Pine’s resume, I can honestly the only thing I have seen him in was probably that ER episode and hell’d if I remember who he was.

Here’s the rest of the cast:

Of Hot Fuzz fame, Simon Pegg is Scotty!!!
Of LOTR fame, Karl Urban is McCoy.
Of Harold And Kumar fame, John Cho is Sulu.
Of Alpha Dog fame, Anton Yelchin is Chekov.
Of Pirates fame, Zoe Saldana is Uhura.

I’m pretty sure the highlight of the entire film would have to be Pegg playing Scotty. You can instantly see a resemblance.

It’s also interesting to see Eric Bana in a film like this. His name gives the project instant credibility, but it’s always weird have an uber celebrity in a sci-fi movie.

Can’t wait.

Yes. More on how the MLB playoff schedule sucks. Nothing should ever resemble the idiotic NBA playoffs that just seemingly keeps going and going and going.

MTV finally copies HotorNot.com. It’s a sign of how far the brand has fallen when it’s taken them this long to copy a format their channel is synonymous for. GEEZ. Looks like someone needs to get fired.

Who’s going to manage the New York Yankees now?

Quote from Homicide: Life On The Street:

Dr. Julianna Cox: “Don’t you even wonder why?”
Det. John Munch: “Why what?”
Dr. Julianna Cox: “Why he lied.”
Det. John Munch: “I’m a homicide detective. The only time I wonder why is when they tell me the truth.”
