Blogcritics (or BC Magazine) will launch a redesign Tuesday April 28. It’s a long-awaited upgrade since Technorati acquired it months back.
Homepage
Overall I like its more Web 2.0 look, but it doesn’t go all the way in putting an emphasis on design with its homepage. It does well in choosing featured articles, but it still looks somewhat cluttered.

It’s not a good use of white space, but the color scheme is better now.
Section
Sectional pages are upgraded. These have better use of white space, and emphasize featured articles, but the columns showcase how many comments each article has and I think that space would be better utilized with a thumbnail of either an article’s image or something else. You don’t necessarily want to highlight an article with 0 comments.

Article
Article pages are much cleaner, but I can’t help but notice the passiveness of the light blue/aqua color links.

The new Blogcritics design definitely looks better than its predecessor, but it doesn’t go far enough in being bold with its content. I need to view the site more to better describe that feeling.
Parting thoughts: (1) I don’t like the new logo, and (2) let’s get more emphasis on video content.
TechCrunch has its thoughts.
