Berkeley Jumps The Shark Again, Tries To Make Power Play For United Nations

Once again, the City of Berkeley thinks itself above its neighborhoods, its state, and maybe even its own nation. Berkeley hopes to pass a measure that “would require the city to file biennial reports to the United Nations on how – or whether – the city meets international human rights standards.”

A waste of time. A city council has more important matters at hand like, say, helping to keep school lunch programs available so that kids can have at least one complete healthy daily meal.

At least this might bear more fruit than a letter to Myanmar (PDF) urging for peace.

Berkeley City Council passed the measure, but at least the work will be done by unpaid interns. Great gig for those interns…
