I’m fortunate to be able to use the Microsoft’s Home Use Program (HUP) so that I get a discounted copy of various Microsoft software just so as long as I am still working at a participating employer.
Microsoft released Office 2011 on October 26, 2010 that finally gave back Outlook for the Mac and some ribbons. It’s November 6, 2010. And yet, Office 2008 is still being offered on Microsoft’s HUP website.
Well it was.
The Microsoft HUP website has been undergoing maintenance since at least Friday evening.
“We apologize for the inconvenience, the site is currently down due to system maintenance and will be available again shortly.”
And the page title currently reads: “Microsoft Home Use Program – Only $9.95 for Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. The software suite includes Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access and more!”
Oh Microsoft, what are you up to? Can I expect the availability of Office 2011 when the HUP website is up and running?
Update: It’s November 7, 2010, and the site is back online. Unfortunately, Office 2011 is still not available.
Update II: It’s November 12, 2010, and the site is back offline. Same maintenance message is displayed.
