Birdy | “Skinny Love” (Bon Iver Cover) | soon-to-be-released album (2011)
14-year-old Birdy’s (Jasmine Van den Bogaerde) cover version of “Skinny Love” — Bon Iver’s tune from his much acclaimed 2008 album For Emma, Forever Ago — is currently rocking the iTunes charts. Stripped down to a piano solo, I think Birdy perfectly captures much of the song’s passion and tragedy (especially within the first two verses) that was are somewhat hidden behind Bon Iver’s gruff voice.
