Carl's Jr.'s 1/2 LB. Thickburger El Diablo

After endless viewings of the Carl’s Jr. commercial with Victoria’s Secret Model Sara Sampaio, I decided to finally try the 1/2 LB. Thickburger El Diablo (mainly just to see how spicy it claims to be).

Here’s the official burger description:

A Charbroiled 1/2-lb 100% Black Angus Thickburger with Jalapeno Poppers, Pepper-Jack Cheese, Fiery Habanero Sauce, Bacon Strips and Sliced Jalapenos on a Fresh Baked Bun.

Verdict: It was beefy, and surprisingly spicy for a fast food burger. The El Diablo also had a good size, although I felt there should have been more lettuce or some other green vegetable to better balance all the meat and bacon (though there could have been an extra strip or two of the latter). Adding actual jalapeños was a nice touch since it reminded you that it had real jalapeño flavor. The spicy taste lingers for a few minutes, well after the last bite. The bun was also adequately toasted.

Getting a separate order of jalapeño poppers might have seemed redundant since they were already included inside the El Diablo, but I wanted to taste them individually. They were properly crispy, cheesy and gooey. Jalapeño poppers were definitely worth being a separate side, but I really missed my usual french fries.

With sales tax, the total bill came to $11.05. While the El Diablo is really good and ranks up there as far as top tier fast food burgers, I think the price is a bit on the steep side by a few dollars.
