Review: Wendy’s Jalapeño Fresco Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Wendy's Jalapeño Fresco Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Ghost Pepper Fries

After hearing endless advertisements about Wendy’s new Jalapeño Fresco Spicy Chicken Sandwich, I decided to finally order one and see what all of the paid fuss was about.

The sandwich’s tagline on the restaurant website: “Too Hot For Some. Delicious To All!”

But there’s more:

Brave the sandwich that is equal parts nice and spice with our classic spicy chicken breast, fresh-diced jalapeños, ghost pepper sauce, colby pepper jack cheese, and a red jalapeño bun.

First off, the sandwich was not very spicy. While spicier than its regular Spicy Chicken Sandwich, the flavor was more than a bit underwhelming. Not to mention the burger was small, especially considering the premium price.

Second, there was not much in the way of vegetables. Nor was the chicken breast substantial, although the bun was properly toasted.

And finally, the Ghost Pepper Fries were similarly not spicy as advertised. The cheesy sauce cooled a bit too quickly which became hard to scoop with the mushy french fries.

Ugh. So disappointing.
